Context

A premium brand with a digital presence that no longer matched.

Occhio is Germany's market leader in lighting. The existing site was slow, broke on mobile, and made products hard to find. Three audiences had different needs: consumers looking for inspiration, architects needing technical depth, and retailers using the site live with customers in their stores.

My Role

UX and UI design for product listings and detail pages.

I worked as part of the designer team on the relaunch and owned the product listing and detail pages, with additional work on parts of the configurator. The work covered information architecture, layout, typography, and interaction details. The brand transfer that defined Occhio's visual language guided every decision.

Approach & Decisions

Storytelling first, configuration second, conversion follows.

Light needs darkness to perform, so product scenes use deep dark backgrounds while content sections stay bright and clear. A light sans-serif keeps focus on the products instead of competing with them. The configurator is visual, not form-based: every change is shown immediately, so users decide with their eyes, not by reading values.

Outcome

One brand experience from smartphone to showroom.

The relaunch went live for Light + Building 2019, the industry's largest trade fair. The new site scales from smartphone to large desktop, keeps Occhio's premium feel consistent across every page, and gives architects the technical depth they need without overwhelming consumers.
